Welcome to Cradock Middle School
I am Roger Coleman and it is an honor to join Portsmouth Public School’s team as Principal of Cradock Middle School. I began my career as an educator in Westmoreland County, Virginia, serving as a teacher, advisor, mentor, Assistant Principal and Principal. Throughout my years of service, I have had the pleasure of serving schools with a strong emphasis on supporting the whole student. It’s my goal to continue this tradition.
On a personal note, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am a Virginia native who is married and a father of three. I am a graduate of Virginia State University where I discovered my passion for education. I believe in creating a school culture that focuses on supporting both the social-emotional and academic development of students. It has always been my goal to lead schools in which I would be proud to enroll my own children. In accepting the opportunity of becoming the principal of Cradock Middle School, I carry on the commitment to serve as a role model. I will demonstrate for my students that one’s character and intellect are reflected in the choices we make, and the very choices we make will surely impact our future.
Now more than ever, as we prepare them for the upcoming year, our students need a great deal of social-emotional support. This is because they are dealing with the impact of the recent events while also striving to meet the standards of our curricula. I look forward to partnering with all of you to provide guidance and support for each student. I am looking forward to joining a school community that is equipped with great systems and structures for this most important work. It is my goal to continue to improve and strive for excellence.
This is the first of many opportunities for me to communicate with you. I can be reached via email at [email protected].
With PRIDE,
